Band members from indie group Reverend and The Makers brought a touch of rock glamour to the occasion – headlining a concert as players partied long into the evening.

Other famous faces on the course and in the bar at the event included This Is England actor Stephen Graham. The 40-year-old is also known for playing Tommy in the film Snatch.

Former Norwich and West Ham footballer Dean Ashton joined in too, as well as Stoke-born former Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday striker Mark Bright.

There was also a place on the bill for one time Arsenal manager George Graham and former Leicester and Brentford manager Frank McLintock.

The sporting theme continued with Bath rugby star Matt Banahan, former Worcester Warriors rugby star Shaun Perry and BBC presenter Manish Bhasin from The Football League Show.

The Calderfields Golf and Country Club tournament was held in support of the Fashion and Textile Children's Trust, which helps children of people who work in the UK fashion and textile industry.

Designer Mr Roper, aged 36, from Walsall Wood, hosted the invitation-only event at the Aldridge Road club and around 140 players took part.

The matches on the day featured a £10,000 hole-in-one competition, the longest drive and nearest to the pin contests.

Entertainment from live bands and DJ sets continued into the night with headline act Reverend and The Makers completing the event.

Music also came from OnEye and Franko Fraize and local bands Page 44, Modern Minds and The Assist.

The casino on the evening raised a grand total of £1,000 for the Fashion and Textile Children's Trust. Mr Roper said: "It was great to have so many friends of the brand at the day to support Luke Roper golf and the Fashion and Children's Trust.

"I think everyone had a lot of fun which is what it is all about and thank you to all the sponsors and everyone involved. It was a great launch pad for my new golf range. I can't wait for next year. For me it will be even bigger."

It is the second golf day hosted by Mr Roper in Walsall. the first one was last year and he said it will become an annual event in the future.

After the golf day Mr Roper put on Twitter: "Massive thanks to our Luke Fes headliners @Reverend_Makers. Great set, you guys rocked! Hope to see you all soon."

Matt Banahan wrote: "Amazing people, brilliant music, great clothes just a top day now tucked up at home ready for big week training."

Sam Aston, the 20-year-old actor who plays cheeky Chesney Brown in Coronation Street, took time out from rehearsals to take part in the match.

Luke Roper has come a long way in the last five years. In 2008 he was living in a two-bed semi in the Black Country. Celebrities are lining up to wear his clothes and he now has shops around the world, including a prime spot in the Bullring.

After leaving The Shire Oak Academy, formerly Shire Oak School, in Walsall Wood, he went to Walsall College to study fashion and textiles, followed by a degree at Central Saint Martin's London, where Sir Terence Conran, Stella McCartney and the late Alexander McQueen all cut their teeth.

He lives with his wife Tracey, his PA, and their two boys, Rui, aged three, and one-year-old Freddie in a renovated farmhouse in Worcestershire.
