Crowds welcome new West Bromwich Primark
Hundreds of eager bargain hunters queued to be the first inside the long-awaited Primark store as it opened in West Bromwich today.
Record numbers of visitors were expected to the £200 million New Square Shopping Centre as the store, which co-anchors the development, welcomed its first customers.
People started queuing at 6.30am to be the first to take a look around the new venue, which has created 151 jobs.
Since New Square first opened in July it has been welcoming around 70,000 visitors a week, although visitor figures are expected to soar with the new addition.
First in the queue Bradley Rice, aged 20, of Raeburn Road, Great Barr, who arrived at 6.30am.
He said: "I came down because I wanted to see the new store. I shop in Primark quite a lot."
