ATE Truck and Trailer Sales Ltd applied to house 250 trailers on a former quarry in Bognop Road, Essington. The plans were turned down by council planners and bosses launched an appeal, claiming the project would have created 25 jobs.
But on appeal the planning inspectorate said the economic benefits were outweighed by the harm caused to the area.
Residents were today celebrating the decision and said a valuable piece of green belt land had been saved.
The 57-acre site was once home to Windmill Quarry.
