Richard Edmonds, aged 81, of Dowles Road, appeared at Stafford Crown Court yesterday charged with causing the death of Allan Green on the A458 at Six Ashes, near Wolverhampton, on October 30 last year.
Edmonds, who was dressed in a suit and tie, spoke only to plead not guilty to the charge and confirm who he was.
Mr Green, aged 66, lived in Gawne Lane in Cradley Heath.
Edmonds will now face a three-day trial at Stafford Crown Court on January 14.
He was released on unconditional bail until the trial date.
