Emergency services were called to the junction of Coombs Road and Amber Way in Halesowen shortly before 6.50pm on Saturday night.

Paramedics battled to save the 19-year-old but his injuries were too serious and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The road was shut for around three hours while investigations took place.

Floral tributes had been left tied to the railings in Amber Way. A note left with them said: "I can't believe this happened. I'm going to miss you so so so much."

Ward councillor Jeff Hill said he was saddened by the news and added: "We have been canvassing in that area and we have had complaints from residents about the speed of the traffic, both further down the road and near the top of the road.

"I don't know what happened in this case but it's a real shame that someone has lost their life."

Meanwhile a woman was found dead on the M6 motorway between Walsall and Essington after reports she had jumped from a bridge.
