Firefighters were called to Alma Street - near to Wednesfield Road - at around 3pm yesterday after receiving several calls from members of the public.

The building has lain empty for years and tyres and rubbish had accumulated inside.

Crews took 20 minutes to put the fire out, but initially couldn't tell how big it was as the smoke was so thick.

Fallings Park crew commander Karl James said: "There was a large quantity of tyres and rubbish inside.

"At first we couldn't tell how large the fire was because of the thick smoke, but it was quite easily put out.
