Appeal launched after alleged kidnap in Kidderminster street

A man was allegedly kidnapped as he walked along a street in Kidderminster.

Police today revealed details of the incident which happened at the weekend and have appealed for witness.

The 37-year-old victim was in Upton Road at around 9.55pm on Saturday when the incident took place, police said.

He was found in Horslea Croft, Alum Rock, Birmingham, at 2.15am on Monday after police received a call from West Midlands Ambulance Service. The man had suffered injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Police said three men and a woman were subsequently arrested in the early hours of Monday in connection with the matter.

Two men have now appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates Court charged with conspiracy to kidnap.

Robert Watters, 47, and Robert Collins, 58, were both committed to Worcester Crown Court by magistrates following a hearing yesterday.

Watters, of Chester Road, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, and Collins, of Eastham Court, Severnside, Bewdley, are expected to enter a plea at on November 11.

Both have been remanded in custody until the plea and case management hearing at crown court. The other man arrested, who is from Birmingham, and the woman, from Bewdley, have been bailed by police until October 3 pending further inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Williamson, of West Mercia Police, said the investigation was still ongoing.

An appeal has now been launched by officers urging witnesses to come forward.
