Huntington waste plant dubbed 'extreme monstrosity'

A £20 million waste plant planned for a South Staffordshire village was today branded an 'extreme monstrosity'.

MP Gavin Williamson has been pressing the case against the proposed plant in Huntington, near Cannock, with county council bosses.

Plans for the anaerobic digester in Cocksparrow Lane, on the site of the former Littleton Colliery, have been resubmitted two years after residents successfully fought the plan.

Residents are drawing up battle lines for a second time and a 295-name petition has been presented to Parliament.

Now Mr Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, and county councillor David Williams, who represents Huntington, have raised their 'grave' concerns on the issue.

Mr Williamson said: "If this goes ahead, it will be an extreme monstrosity and I will continue to do all I can to get it stopped."
