Man arrested after woman found badly injured at Kidderminster house
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found seriously injured at a Kidderminster house.
Police were called to the terraced house in Lea Street at 11.30pm last night.
They found the 25-year-old woman with serious injuries.
She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she today remains in intensive care.
Shortly after the woman was discovered, a 24-year-old man was arrested just six miles away in Hagley.
He was being questioned today by police at a station in north Worcestershire.
Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident
This morning, a sole police officer stood guard outside the house.
Police cones were on the road, stopping anyone from parking outside.
Officers were also going door to door interviewing neighbours this morning.
Inspector Andrew Smith described it as a 'very serious incident'.
Detective Inspector Dave Williams said: "The incident appears to have been confined to the address and at this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the matter.
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have heard or seen anything unusual in Lea Street at around the relevant time last night and we would also appeal to anyone who may have any information at all about this matter to contact us as soon as possible."
A 56-year-old woman, who did not wish to be named, who lives in Lea Street said: "I've not seen anything like that around here before.
"It's not the best part of town, but it's usually quiet."
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
