Teenager jailed for killing off-duty Wolverhampton police officer

A teenager was today jailed for three-and-half years for killing an off-duty police officer from Wolverhampton who died after an early-hours fracas outside a nightclub.

Dale Dixon knocked Pc Chris Findley out with a single punch before phoning for an ambulance and then leaving the scene in a taxi before 999 services arrived.

Pc Findley had been walking past Divine Bar in Darlington Street, Wolverhampton, at around 4.30am on January 28 when trouble flared.

The 33-year-old, from Merridale Avenue in Merridale, Wolverhampton, was punched and left unconscious in the road with a serious head injury.

He died in hospital 10 days later. The officer was based in Sandwell and worked at Smethwick.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court today, Dale Dixon, aged 19, of New Heath Close, Wednesfield, was jailed after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
