Lawrence Mandudzo, of Wednesfield Road, crashed into a parked car after officers originally tried to pull him over in Cannock Road during the evening rush hour on October 26, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

The 28-year-old had only been released from a four-year sentence for his role in the notorious Wolverhampton to Aberdeen drugs run six weeks earlier.

And despite being on licence for the drugs offences, he sped off when he saw a police car following him, the court was told.

Mr Nicholas Burn, prosecuting, told the court officers used their blue lights and sirens but 'his response was to immediately accelerate away' in his Mercedes 320 CLK.

Mr Burn said Mandudzo hurtled past a primary school at 60 mph, swerved to avoid a lorry and then drove the wrong way down a bus lane before crashing into a parked car.

Mandudzo was jailed for four years at Aberdeen High Court in March 2010 for being concerned in the supply of large amounts of controlled drugs, Mr Burn said.

He had admitted travelling from Wolverhampton to Aberdeen to help prepare the drugs. In this latest case, he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Miss Debra White, defending, said Mandudzo was 'genuinely remorseful'. She argued he should be given a suspended sentence but Judge John Warner rejected that.

Mandudzo was jailed for a total of 15 months, including 12 months for dangerous driving and three months for driving while disqualified. He was also banned from driving for three years.
