Shimmering city of Wolverhampton basks in sunshine

The chance to see Wolverhampton bathed in sunshine doesn't come around too often but one snapper has captured this summery scene of the city.

Miks Garokalns took this photograph from the top of the city's tallest building, student flats Victoria Halls off the Wednesfield Road.

St Peter's Church tower and Mander House can be seen looming high above their neighbouring buildings.

The gold of Molineux stadium glints in the sunshine to the right of the image.

In the foreground to the left is the Broad Street Canal Basin and Wolverhampton Railway Station, and further left is the city's £22.5 million bus station.

The photograph also captures some of Wolverhampton's greenery in its full glory.

The 28-year-old photographer was at the top of the flats taking photographs for Carvers Building Supplies which has opened a new warehouse in the city centre in Little's Lane.

Mr Garokalns, who is originally from Latvia but has lived in the UK for more than four years, said: "It was the first time I had been up to the top of the flats and the views were beautiful. I am very pleased with how the photograph turned out."
