Beverley beats father onto Deal or No Deal
It is one of her father's favourite shows and, after watching others bag thousands of pounds opening the famous Deal or No Deal boxes, he was keen to get a slice of the action himself.
His daughter Beverley Momenabadi, from Pendeford, was more than happy to help make his TV dream come true and so filled in his application form – but ended up on the show herself.
The 21-year-old joked that father Mehdi had been left 'gutted' when she was picked for the show, as rules stipulate friends and family can't enter future episodes.
Beverley, a participation co-ordinator for Wolverhampton YMCA, was told the news in February after beating 500 other applicants for the chance of going for the £250,000 prize. And viewers will get to see her in the hot seat next to Noel Edmonds later this month.
She said: "I applied about a year ago but I only did it because my dad asked me to sign him up. I thought, 'while I'm filling out an application for him I may as well do one, too'."
She added: "I went down for the audition in Bristol and I had to go in front of a camera for a short time and say a little about me and that was it." She joked: "My dad's a massive fan of the show and he's gutted I'm on because it means he can't go on it now.
"In all seriousness, my family have been amazing they have been supportive and really excited for me and I think it's unusual for them to see me every day on television."
While Beverley's big day for taking on the banker will be screened on July 15, viewers have already seen her opening boxes for the other contestants – although a bout of food poisoning kept her away for six shows.
She is remaining tight-lipped about her winnings but said appearing on Deal had been a dream for her. "I think a lot of people will be surprised by my show," she said. "There are a lot of funny moments, so they need to tune in."
