Brownhills driver took police on danger chase
A driver led officers on a 20 minute high speed chase through a housing estate in broad daylight, smashing into two vehicles including the police patrol car, a court heard.
Brian McDonagh was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, but Judge Michael Dudley warned he only narrowly avoided an immediate jail term.
Officers were called to reports of a suspicious car in Bloxwich suspected of being involving in drug dealing but the car made off shortly after police arrived.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard McDonagh forced other motorists to take evasive action after hitting speeds of 60 mph, double the speed limit, on a built up residential estate on April 13.
McDonagh, aged 35, of Cedar Avenue, Brownhills, pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop, and having no insurance. He was banned from driving for two years.
