Jasper Carrott and Tom O'Connor were among those who attended the service for Lee Wilson.

He died aged 74 just weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The great-grandfather, whose real name was Geoff Beards, was a regular on the local comedy circuit and during his career mixed with some of the leading lights in the world of showbiz.

During yesterday's service at St Mary's Church, Oldswinford, Carrott paid a glowing tribute to the showbiz veteran. He said: "Lee had this passion for life -wherever we were, it was great."

Tributes were also paid by his wife Sheila, children Tracy, Lee and Debbie, their seven grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Mr Wilson was born in Wednesbury and lived in Tipton before moving to Stourbridge.
