Jail increase for Brierley Hill car sale conman

A rogue trader already serving a prison sentence has been jailed for a further six months after he admitted trying to sell a stolen car and driving it while disqualified.

Geoffrey Badlan was handed a one-year jail term earlier this year for selling cars which were unfit for the road to unsuspecting customers.

And the 39-year-old, formerly of Stourbridge Road, Brierley Hill, was back before Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday pleading guilty to one charge of handling stolen goods along with two counts of driving while disqualified and without insurance.

The court was told the vehicle, a Honda Civic, had been taken from the driveway of an address in Kingswinford and given to Badlan to sell on by a third party who owed him money.

Miss Alka Brigue, prosecuting, said Badlan had advertised the car for sale in Auto Trader using the false name of Ian Williams – and when someone interested in the vehicle had got into contact had still not used his real identity.

Judge Nicholas Webb sentenced Badlan to six months imprisonment for handling stolen goods – which he will begin serving at the end of the existing prison sentence.

He was given a two month jail term for each of the driving while disqualified matters to run concurrently with the six-month term.

His driving licence was endorsed for the no insurance matters.
