Slade guitarist Dave Hill unveils new Penn pharmacy
He has been a customer since the days when he was regularly topping the charts with glam rockers Slade.
So guitarist Dave Hill was more than happy to Get Down and Get With It when he cut the ribbon on the brand new Lloyds Pharmacy in Penn.
The rock star felt right at home in the new building as the pharmacy's 10 staff – who he knows on first-name terms – have all made the short move from Penn Road to Manor Road. The relocation is designed to make it easier for the pharmacy to work alongside Manor Medical Centre, with the new base on the same site as the centre.
Mr Hill – who suffered a stroke three years ago and lives locally – said he was delighted to be asked to officially open the new pharmacy.
He added: "I've been coming to the pharmacy for 30 or 40 years and I know all the staff by name. I had a stroke three years ago and they said 'don't forget Dave, we're all here for you' and that's what you want to hear. I've always had good service here."
Hill unveiled the new pharmacy as he heads to take the stage at Bilston's Robin 2 with the remaining members of Slade.
And he revealed is looking for a new frontman to take Noddy Holder's role, with Mal McNulty looking to step down.
But he said he had given up on trying to coax Holder and bassist Jim Lea back.
