Stourport death crash cyclist named by officers

A cyclist who died after he was knocked down by a car in Stourport was named by police today as Lee Stead.

Mr Stead was cycling to a friend's house when he was involved in a crash with a car in Vernon Road on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old, who lived in Stourport, was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious head injuries, but died on Tuesday morning.

The driver of the vehicle,a silver Renault Megane Scenic, was unhurt.

West Mercia Police officers are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Pc Simon Johnson said: "We would ask anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible."
