£2.6m Stourbridge park work is step closer to reality

A long-awaited £2.6 million revamp of Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Park is moving closer to reality, with plans poised to be given the go-ahead.

The project, which is being funded with lottery cash, includes creating a new cafe and restoring the bandstand.

Improvements to the sports facilities at the park, including the tennis courts and bowling green, are also on the cards.

Councillors will consider whether to give the proposals, which have been recommended for approval, the green light at a meeting on Monday.

A report by planning officer Greg Collings describes the the park as 'an important historic asset' for the town.
