Six of the cuddly creatures are living at South Staffordshire College's Rodbaston base, near Penkridge, where there is an animal centre.
Staff there say they hope the meerkats will mate this year for the first time.
David Riley, who is the animal centre manager at Rodbaston, said: "We are hoping this year they will mate and we'll have some little baby meerkats running around soon. We already have four girls and two boys."
He added that the meerkats had been enjoying the recent warm weather. The creatures were donated by Colchester Zoo.
