[gallery] Police arrested a man his 20s after trouble erupted at Kidderminster Harriers final league game of the season against Stockport County.
Play at Aggborough was suspended midway through when a number of away fans ran onto the pitch and one attacked Harriers player Lee Vaughan.
Both teams were escorted off the pitch by stewards and the game did not resume until half an hour later, when police reinforcements arrived.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of assault. The game on Saturday eventually finished 4-0 to Harriers but they missed out on automatic promotion because of Mansfield's 1-0 win over Wrexham. The Harriers now head for the play-offs.
A West Mercia Police statement said: "A pitch invasion involving a small number of away fans followed an opening goal by the home side during the second half of the match.
"Players from both sides were confronted on the pitch by the Stockport supporters and one of the Kidderminster players was assaulted. The referee suspended the match and withdrew the players from the field.
"Police were called into the ground and joined stewards in restoring order among the crowd. A man in his 20s was arrested on the pitch on suspicion of assault and taken to Kidderminster Police Station for questioning."
After the match, police escorted Stockport County supporters away from the ground, with patrols across Kidderminster during the night. No further arrests were made.
