The £200,000 proposal by council bosses to revamp Tettenhall's picturesque Upper Green were first revealed by Tettenhall Regis Tory councillor Jonathan Yardley earlier this year.

Now 21 members of Tettenhall District Community Council have been shown a new image of how the development could look and have said there was "no appetite" for some of the changes proposed.

City council chiefs say they are now looking at altering the scheme in the wake of feedback.

And any images created after consultation with members of the community council will be part of a wider discussion with residents in the coming weeks.

Councillor Yardley said of the designs: "A lot of what was in the plans was unanimously found by the 21 members to be completely unsuitable.

"It is the last unspoilt green area of the city. It's a unique rural, typical village green. It's Green Belt land, in a conservation area of archaeological interest.

"Monkey bars and gym equipment and the rest of the paraphernalia was not suitable for Upper Green."

Members however felt a children's playground could be located on other green space at the bottom corner of Lower Green, Councillor Yardley added.

It was also felt that other plans to put up new signs highlighting the heritage of the area could be further explored. Council planning officers will consider residents suggestions alongside their own.
