The Rotors, Wings and Wheels Fun Day was held at Halfpenny Green Vineyard in Bobbington over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The event showcased a variety of classic cars, military vehicles and engineering from the 1940s to the present day.

While visitors could turn back the clock with the cars and aircraft on display, they also had the chance to enjoy music from singers from company Something Special performing Vera Lynn numbers and music from Frank Sinatra.

A Boulton & Paul Overstrand, one of the bomber planes used prolifically during the First World War, was also among the highlights for visitors, as it made one of its last public outings before it is given a new home at RAF Cosford.

Organiser Vaughan Meers, who has been involved with the event for the past five years, said: "We're absolutely delighted with the turnout, especially considering the original forecast."

Builder Steve Heath and his wife Lorraine, a Wolverhampton College worker, attracted a lot of the attention of the crowds flocking to the event with their 1930 model A Ford Sedan – which had its roof lowered.

Mr Heath, a father of three from Burland Avenue, Tettenhall, had shipped the car over from Arizona to add to his growing collection of hot rod cars. The 54-year-old said: "These cars are a lifestyle really. They're as much a statement as a piece of art when you think about them."

Kevin Hale, aged 47, who flew from his Swindon home to the event, also drew the crowds in with his camouflaged Auster AOP 6 military air observation aircraft, dating back to 1946.
