Sandwell Council service staff will move to save £2m
Around 300 staff at Sandwell Council's children's services department are relocating as part of a scheme which will cut down on office costs.
It is part of a plan which will see around 1,000 council workers in total relocate to save more than £2 million a year. The office accommodation strategy will see workers relocated to save on rent and business rates, as well as bills.
In this latest round staff will be moved to the Council House in Oldbury from The Hollies and Crystal House buildings in Smethwick.
Some staff will also move to Coneygre Family Centre in Tipton and Metsec House in Oldbury.
The council has said the moves are part of a drive to reduce the number of council office space and encourage agile working.
The borough's education boss, Councillor Bob Badham has said the move will give staff greater flexibility and improve productivity.
