Darlaston bus interchange revamp revealed

Darlaston's bus interchange will get provide better waiting facilities and passenger information under new improvement plans revealed today.

A better crossing will also be provided in St Lawrence Way under proposals from Walsall Council and Centro.

Around £30,000 has been set aside to develop designs which are being put together by the council and Centro bosses.

Walsall Council transport chief Councillor Tom Ansell said: "We've set aside £30,000 to come up with a set of designs to introduce safer crossing facilities adjacent to the Asda car park in St Lawrence Way, Darlaston. It's a scheme which we anticipate will involve Centro and the supermarket, and we're aiming to improve the general facilities for bus passengers also."

Centro spokesman Peter Cameron said: "We are in talks with Walsall Council about the possibility of upgrading the facilities at Darlaston Interchange."
