Plan is unveiled for problem Wednesbury pool
A pool which has been the scene of antisocial behaviour in Wednesbury will benefit from improvements costing hundreds of thousands of pounds, under fresh plans.
Sandwell Council wants to make changes at Hydes Road Pool including improved disabled access and the introduction of a new path. It also wants to fence off an area at the back of the pool, off Woden Road South, to deter yobs who have been setting fires and damaging trees.
The authority is working with the park's friends group to apply for different funding grants.
"At the moment, there is no access at the pool for disabled people, so we want to address that," said Friends of Hydes Road Pool chairman Terry Green. "We also want to fence off the back of the pool and let nature take its course to stop some of the problems we have had there."
Cabinet member Councillor Ian Jones said no precise costings for the scheme have been made but estimated hundreds of thousands of pounds could be needed.
