Sculptures on display at Weston Park
Stunning artwork from a Lichfield artist will have a new home for 12 months after being installed in the grounds of Weston Park.
The sculptures by Peter Walker have been unveiled by the Weston Park Foundation.
Seven sculptures have been positioned across the estate include bulls, horses and birds, all cast in bronze.
Gareth Williams, curator to the Weston Park Foundation, said: "We are delighted to have these dynamic sculptures on loan from Peter Walker.
"They bring a new dimension to the estate and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors over the Easter break to take a look at our new installations." Mr Walker has a studio in Shrewsbury and his work is collected nationally and internationally.
Some of the sculptures that are on display have made their way from Germany where they have stood outside BMW's Munich headquarters.
Mr Walker, who is an elected member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and the Lichfield Society of Artists, has produced numerous public works. He is chairman of Lichfield Arts Foundation and is also one of a collection of sculptors who, as part of the Art at the Edge sculpture project, have produced artworks relating to 26 Olympic sports.
Mr Walker worked closely with rowers at Shrewsbury School to produce work that represents the legacy of British Olympic Rowing which will be cast in bronze and displayed throughout the UK.
His work can be viewed at Weston Park when the house, park and gardens open for Easter on March 30 until April 14.
It comes after it emerged earlier this year he would be involved in a second sculpture to celebrate the discovery of the Staffordshire Hoard. It was announced last year that Lichfield and Burntwood would be getting monuments.
