Following an anonymous tip-off, police officers stormed two houses in the Prince's End part of the town at just before 7am, in a co-ordinated operation.

A pit bull-type dog was taken from a house in Hall Lane after it acted aggressively towards officers, and one man was arrested.

In the second raid at a house on Hawthorn Road, two men were arrested after a small quantity of class A drugs, believe to be crack, was found in a search.

The raids were the latest in more than 100 to take place in the same part of the town in the last three years.
