And Robin Kiddie's workmates in Cradley Heath had to keep double checking his numbers for him as he couldn't believe his luck.

The ecstatic 60-year-old and his wife Christine were the sole winners of the top prize when their numbers – 2, 16, 25, 30, 31 and 32 – all came out in Saturday's draw.

And Robin only found out he was the country's newest millionaire when he returned to work at manufacturing firm Kingfisher Industrial, at Cradley Business Park on Overend Road, the following Monday morning.

He told a Press conference yesterday that he glanced at the winning Lottery numbers on the television on Sunday night and thought some may have been the same as his own.

The father-of-four, who bought the ticket in Kidderminster, said: "I thought I may have up to four numbers on one line, but as it was late, I went to bed and decided to check in the morning.

"I arrived at work after eight and decided to go online and check the Lottery numbers to see whether we had won and how much it might be. As soon as the numbers came up on screen, I realised we had all six on one line. I couldn't believe it and thought it was a mistake.

"I tried to call Christine but as we have no phone upstairs, she didn't hear it." Robin, who is a partner at the company, then sent a text message to his three daughters, aged 39, 37 and 36, and 32-year-old son with the simple message: 'I've got some good news, we've won £6.2 million on the Lottery'.

Robin, who lives in Ludlow, will be leaving his job on March 22 after starting at Kingfisher Industrial in 1997 on the shop floor before working his way up to a managerial position.

John Connolly, managing director at the company, said: "Robin was due to retire in four years but with what's happened now he's brought that forward. He's got an extra four years now to live the good life.

"Everyone here wishes him and his family congratulations, from everyone on the shop floor to those who work in his office."
