The operation was held amid fears a gang of organised thieves have been roaming the site to steal expensive items shoppers have left in their cars.

Police said shoppers who have purchased and then left good inside their cars for safe-keeping while they continue to browse have been targeted at the retail park in Axletree Way, close to junction nine of the M6.

Officers installed a decoy "capture" car at the site and within minutes police arrested two men attempting to break into a vehicle.

Sgt Sam Jones from Sandwell Police said: "There have not been any thefts from the retail park since the arrests last week."
