Officer and PCSO injured in Walsall smash

A police officer and his PCSO colleague were taken to hospital after a crash on a main route in Brownhills.

The police car was involved in a smash with a Ford B-Max along the busy A5 Watling Street.

The officers were taken to hospital and the woman Ford driver, who was in her 40s, was unhurt.

It happened near to the Rising Sun pub just after 10.30am yesterday.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Deb Edmonds said: "There was a police accident on the A5, it was a car and a police vehicle.

"A police officer and PCSO were taken to hospital with minor injuries."
