Norovirus shuts wards at Sandwell Hospital

All wards at Sandwell Hospital were closed to visitors today after dozens of patients contracted norovirus.

Twenty-four patients on Lyndon Four ward, 17 on Priory Ward Five, 18 on Lyndon Five and six on Lyndon Three have been confirmed as having the bug.

Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Trust spokeswoman Jeanette Lunt said today: "We have four wards shut due to confirmed cases. We have been forced to shut for the safety of patients."
