Car overturns after hitting lamppost in Dudley
Fire crews were called after a car hit a lamp post and overturned on a quiet street in one of a number of crashes on the region's roads.
It happened at around 8am yesterday at The Straits in Lower Gornal at the corner of St Andrews Close. It is believed the driver of the VW Golf left the scene. Police are investigating.
Resident Vaughan Evans, aged 52, who took photographs of the overturned car in the street said: "My son was in the garden and heard it and saw the lamp post topple over and the driver ran off.
"There was a loud bang, the car was completely on its side, the windscreen was smashed and windows were smashed. The police, fire service and ambulance service came but the lad had gone.
"It is a miracle that no-one was hurt, the lamp post could have hit a car."
