Woman injured in Cannock Road hit-and-run smash

A woman was cut free from the wreckage of her car and taken to hospital after a hit-and-run crash in South Staffordshire.

The victim, aged 20, had to be cut from her Ford Ka following the accident on the A460 Cannock Road close to the roundabout at junction one of the M54 at 6.30pm yesterday.

She was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton with suspected head, chest and neck injuries although these were not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed in the direction towards Featherstone for around an hour.

The car is thought to have been in collision with a white or silver Peugeot.

Staffordshire police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
