The performer, who came runner-up in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Any Dream Will Do TV talent contest, dropped in at Wolverhampton's Coppice Performing Arts School to host a drama workshop.

He is currently performing the lead role in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre. He gave pupils aged between 11 and 18 his best stage tips ahead of the Wednesfield school's own performance of the musical from March 20.

It included giving advice to the two students lined up to play Joseph in the school's own version of the famous story - Tate Wolverson and Harry Ondrak-Wright.

He told them that the best tip for playing the part and carrying off the confidence of the character was to smile to be believable.

Mr Jack even said the school duo had impressed him during a performance of some of the show's songs.

He said: "It's always nice to come into a school to see what it's like and the facilities children have to work with, and it's nice to meet someone else doing the role.

"The children asked about what you feel like on stage and what stuff I've done before. People just want to know what it's like on stage really.

"You hope to meet someone who might end up playing a Joseph one day. I thought the two guys were amazing considering it was 10am in the morning to be singing Joseph.

"They had really nice tones to their voices. I just told them that a smile can make a big difference in a Joseph performance really."

Pupils also had the chance to interview the star before seeing him perform at the Lichfield Street theatre.

Joseph runs at the Grand until Saturday.
