Probe on Oldbury Academy workers over Facebook comments
Two workers at a Sandwell school have been suspended because of comments believed to have been made on Facebook.
Oldbury Academy headteacher John Martin confirmed the suspensions and said an investigation into the professional conduct of two staff members was ongoing.
Mr Martin would not confirm suggestions the two had criticised the Pound Road school online for opening during the recent snow.
But he said: "I can confirm two staff have recently been suspended from duty," he said.
"These suspensions are without prejudice and carry full pay. Investigations into the professional conduct of these staff are ongoing and following the course of Academy policies and internal procedures in place."
Councillor Bob Badham, Sandwell's schools boss, said as an academy, the headteacher had the right to suspend any teacher he wanted.
He said he could not comment on this case specifically.
But he added: "Facebook is something staff have to be really careful with these days. Something posted innocently can prove to be really damaging.
"There have been many cases of people getting into trouble for things without thinking about the consequences."
