Redhill School in Stourbridge hit by strike

Stourbridge's Redhill School opened to around 700 of its 1,170 pupils today despite a strike by teachers over academy plans.

The headteacher said a number of parents had urged him to open the school after similar action by members of the NASUWT ' union led to complete closure on Thursday – on top of two days off caused by snow.

Union members today walked out for the second of three days of action.
