Businesswoman Angi Cooney has spent the past few months renovating the former Globe pub in Upper Brook Street, Rugeley.

Angi, who is a director of C Residential in Rugeley, relocated the business into the pub earlier this month.

The pub closed around two and a half years ago and Angi originally tried to buy it in 2011, but lost the sale to another potential buyer who then backed out of the deal.

She finally managed to get her hands on the keys in October last year before renovating it – while keeping as many original features of the building as possible – using local, independent tradesmen, and transforming it into her estate agent business.

"It was just meant to be. Having it now is just a dream come true. There was a lot of work to do but I am so happy with it and the workmen have all just done a fantastic job," she said.

Work took eight weeks to complete, and part of the bar and the beer pumps were donated to other businesses.

"I wanted other people to benefit from this and I wanted to show people that you can do things locally," she said.
