Burial fees and car parking charges could go up across Cannock Chase as part of a review of fees for council services in a bid to claw back £100,000 from government budget cuts, it was announced today.

Other cost-cutting plans being looked at as part of Cannock Chase Council's proposed budget include buying in equipment at cheaper prices and a re-shuffle of senior management.

The moves are being looked at as part of a number of cuts to save £100,000 for 2014/15. There could also be a review of policy options, which could mean cutting frontline services. But bosses say that would only be considered as a last resort.

Jamie Summerfield, Cannock Chase Council spokesman, said all services currently sold by the council, such as burial fees and car parking charges, would be scrutinised and could be in line to go up.

He added: "Senior management restructuring is one of a number of potential savings that the council is currently looking at."
