Mother, 24, denies bid to kill her own baby after Wolverhampton rubbish find
A mother today denied trying to murder her newborn baby, who was discovered among rubbish at the back of a block of flats in Wolverhampton.
Iraqi national Jaymin Abdulrahman pleaded not guilty to attempted murder of the six-day old girl when she appeared at the city's crown court today.
Wearning a black head scarf, black dress and grey cardigan, the 24-year-old spoke through an interpreter at court today.
She also denied a charge of perverting the course of justice by telling West Midlands Police that the baby had been abducted by individuals unknown to her.
The girl was discovered in a bin at the bottom of a rubbish chute in Wolverhampton. She cannot be named for legal reasons.
She was treated at Birmingham Children's Hospital after being found with serious injuries on September 8 last year.
Judge John Warner remanded Abdulrahman into custody ahead of a directions hearing on February 22. A trial date was provisionally set for June 5 at Birmingham Crown Court.
The girl has been released from hospital and is now receiving around-the-clock care from foster parents.
A 32-year-old man arrested in connection with the police investigation remains on bail.
