Cannock families take action over flooding fears
Determined families armed with sandbags are taking action to protect their homes amid fears heavy rain may cause flooding.
One of the wettest years on record has caused misery for residents living in Heathbank Drive, Huntington, Cannock.
They have seen their road flooded repeatedly over recent months, while thousands of pounds of damage was caused to homes during bad weather in June.
The Heathbank and Teddesley Flood Action Group has now been set up in a bid to stop the problem.
It will bring together various groups to try to tackle the problem of water pouring down into the cul-de-sac from nearby fields.
Teacher David Wood, who has been instrumental in setting up the action group, said people lived in fear of further flooding.
"Whenever it rains we all worry that our road is going to flood again," he said.
Some residents have built walls in a bid to stop water reaching their properties. The latest bout of bad weather means they are having to find supplies of sandbags to put in front of properties during heavy downpours.
