Gavin Warley, aged 19, of Fourth Avenue, Low Hill, appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday with Leon Richards, 18, of Denmore Gardens, Wednesfield.

Neither of the pair entered a plea to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to Irfan Khan, who runs Hot and Spicy on Broad Street.

The alleged attack happened at 6am on July 8. The men are accused of inflicting injuries on Mr Khan, including a fractured right knee, dislocated ankle and a cut near to his eye.

They are also accused of causing £500 damage to the takeaway's window and door, which was allegedly after a dispute over some food, Mr Roger Bleazard, prosecuting, said.

Warley also faces a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to passer-by Victoria Clarke after he left the takeaway.

The case was committed to Wolverhampton Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing, which will take place on January 25.

Both men were granted conditional bail.
