New appeal launched five years after death

The probe into the murder of a businessman will never close, detectives said today as they launched a new appeal for information on the fifth anniversary of his death.

Michael Davis-Bingham, a 43-year-old Canadian national, who lived in Bowen Street, Parkfields, Wolverhampton, was found at his home early on December 13, 2007. He had died as a result of a single stab wound.

West Midlands Police have undertaken a murder investigation involving more than 100 staff.

Mr Davis-Bingham, who previously worked at Telford and Wrekin Council, is known to have managed his own property consultancy firm which experienced financial difficulties in 2007.

A number of people who invested money into Michael's business ventures lost a lot amount of money, according to the police.

Detective Sergeant Mick Griffiths said: "The investigation into who killed Michael Davis Bingham will never close. Any fresh information that comes into the incident room will be taken seriously and in confidence.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who spoke to Michael, or saw him, or his car, between the times of 7.30pm and 8.30pm on that evening. Inquiries so far have identified that someone called at Michael's house in Bowen Street shortly after midnight on December 13, 2007. To date this person has not come forward, and we urge them to contact us."

DS Griffiths added: "Keys to Mr Davis-Bingham's car are missing and we are keen to locate them. The keys to the BMW were on a silver bulldog key ring.

"We believe that Michael had friendships and relationships with a number of women."

Mr Davis-Bingham drove a black BMW X5 registration AD04 MXS. The last known sighting of him was at approximately 7.30pm on December 12 in his vehicle in Erdington.
