Witness appeal on fatal Cookley smash

Police today issued an appeal for witnesses after a woman from Stourbridge was killed and two men were injured in a crash near Kidderminster.

The black Vauxhall Astra they were travelling in hit a tree and then a wall on the A449 at Cookley. The 26-year-old woman passenger died in the smash on Saturday at around 1.20am.

A 22-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with two broken legs and a broken pelvis. A rear seat passenger, a 24-year-old man, was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital with minor injuries.

Pc Mark Roberts of West Mercia Police said: "Our thoughts go out to this young woman's family and friends, and to the two young men who were injured."
