Man rescued as fire crews fight Wolverhampton blaze
A man was pulled from his flat by firefighters in one of two blazes in the Black County, with crews uncovering a cannabis factory at the other.
The man was rescued from a three-storey semi-detached house in Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton, at about 7pm yesterday. The drugs factory was found inside the loft of a property in Vicarage Road, Lye, at around 9.05pm.
In Wolverhampton, crews found a 32-year-old man in the smoke-filled ground floor flat and pulled him to safety. He was then given oxygen and was taken to New Cross Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Three crews from Tipton, Fallings Park and Tettenhall took about 10 minutes to put out the blaze, while six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames inside the flat. Residents of the other flats had already been evacuated.
Crews from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge were called to the cannabis factory after smoke was spotted pouring out of the house.
