Stourbridge woman, 26, is killed as car crashes into a tree
A woman from Stourbridge was killed and two men were injured when the car they were in hit a tree and then a wall on a road near to Kidderminster.
It is the second road death tragedy on the stretch of the A449 at Cookley in three months.
Parish councillors today demanded a cut in the speed limit from 50mph to 40mph and better warning signs.
The 26-year-old woman passenger, who has not been named, was killed in the accident on Saturday at around 1.20am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Chris Kowalik said: "There had been three people in the car.
"A man, in his 20s, had numerous injuries, including a suspected fractured pelvis and broken leg. Another man in his 20s had minor injuries including facial injuries."
The two injured men were taken to hospital for further treatment.
Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council chairman Simon Sherrey today said action was needed to make the road safer for motorists.
Meanwhile, thousands of drivers faced delays of 90 minutes in queues of up to eight miles after a crash between a car and lorry along the M6.
The accident happened between junction six for Birmingham and junction seven for Great Barr at around 6am.
