Tipton Asbo breach teen is told he faces lock-up
A teenager who has pleaded guilty to breaching his anti-social behaviour order for the third time, has been warned he faces a custodial sentence.
The 16-year-old from Tipton was given an Asbo in August this year after subjecting families to torrents of verbal abuse, damaging buildings and spraying graffiti.
The youngster who cannot be named for legal reasons, was banned from a number of streets in the town.
He has now been caught for the third time in his exclusion zone, Sandwell Magistrates Court heard yesterday.
The police found the youngster when they went to a house in Coronation Road to investigate a car theft. Once there they accidentally stumbled upon a haul of cannabis worth £120,000, and the teenager, who tried to escape out the back of the house.
Police Sgt Steph Court said after the hearing, that they were called to Central Avenue to investigate a car theft on November 29. A woman delivering parcels for a catalogue company had left her keys in her vehicle, and it had been taken.
A tracking device led police to the car, but it was an anonymous witness who tipped off police that the suspect was at an address in Coronation Road. When they arrived they caught a woman fleeing with 27 bags of cannabis. Police also found the 16-year-old.
Mr Kulbir Paul, prosecuting, told the court that the youngster told the police that he was at Coronation Road which is in his exclusion zone visiting his aunt. The court heard the teen had made a full and frank admission and he pleaded guilty to the breach in court.
Magistrates decided because the teenager faces a custodial sentence a pre-sentence report should be prepared. They adjourned the case until January 10.
