Scorned woman attacked Pc at Birmingham Airport
A woman lashed out at her police officer boy-friend in the arrivals hall at Birmingham Airport after finding out he was cheating on her, a court was told.
Helen McEvoy waited at the airport for Mr Davis to return from a trip to Turkey and the bust-up started when he appeared with fellow Pc Elaine Turner.
Solihull Magistrates Court heard Mr Davis had told McEvoy, 29, of Mulberry Green, Dudley, he was going to Turkey for a stag-do.
But McEvoy had found the "groom" still at home in Dudley arousing her suspicions. She went to the airport and lashed out when Mr Davis arrived along with Elaine Turner.
The fracas at the airport was captured on CCTV and a display stand of chocolate bars at a nearby WH Smith concession was knocked over. McEvoy admitted a charge of assault. Her sister 36-year-old Donna McEvoy, of Maple Green, Dudley, who was also involved in the bust-up at around 1am on July 17 pleaded guilty to the same charge. They were both given a 12-month conditional discharge by magistrates.
Mr Phillip Haycock, defending, said Helen McEvoy and Mr Davis had three young children.
He told the court Mr Davis had cheated on Mc-Evoy with Ms Turner before but had claimed it was a one-night stand. She had forgiven him and they had undergone counselling. "He announced to Helen in July he was attending a week-long stag party for a colleague in Turkey," he said.
"When he was in Turkey he sent text messages to Helen on a daily basis saying he loved her and missed her. My client became suspicious and looked up the address of the would-be groom and found him at home."
Mr Haycock said she had called Mr Davis who said he was alone and just trying to get his head together. He said he would prove he was on his own by meeting her at Gatwick Airport.
"She decided to go to Birmingham Airport instead to wait for flights from Turkey on the day he was due back. Mr Davis sent a text message which said he was leaving Turkey he would see her at Gatwick in four hours' time. But she decided to go to arrivals instead, where she and her sister discovered the couple." Both sisters were ordered to each pay £200 court costs.
