Watchman V attended the reopening of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Exhibition in Wednesbury on Saturday.

Although the regiment has now merged to become part of the Mercian Regiment, the soldiers still retain their three-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mascot, the fifth the regiment has had.

The mayor and mayoress of Sandwell Councillor Keith Davies and his wife Pat, reopened the exhibition at The Old Post Office, in Albert Street, following a six-month absence for redecoration of the building. Group patron John Allen MBE said: "The exhibition is back, and now in a more flush surrounding. A great job has been done to refurbish the room as well as work by the group to bring in new showcase units.

"We get people all around the world coming to see us. Now they can come back."

The exhibition group has been running for 11 years, but moved to The Old Post Office five years ago.

Open every Saturday from 11am to 3pm, the group offers a meeting point for the dog breed enthusiasts.
