Crowds turn out for big Tettenhall Christmas lights switch-on
Dropping temperatures did not put scores of people off from turning up to see the Christmas lights switch-on in Tettenhall.
Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Christine Mills flicked the switch for the lights with the help of Father Christmas, while those there to watch were treated to children's entertainers.
Many of the traders in Tettenhall stayed open and there were hotdogs and hamburgers on sale for people to enjoy during last night's event.
Local councillor Barry Findlay, who was at the event, said: "It was fantastic and I think we had more people there than any other year. It was really packed and there was a brilliant atmosphere. The traders were doing some good business as well, which was really positive.
"It was the perfect way to get everyone into the Christmas spirit."
Elsewhere last night, the festive season officially kicked off in West Bromwich as the town's Christmas lights were switched on.
Marathon hero and Olympic torchbearer 'Blind Dave' Heeley joined the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Keith Davies, for the event at Queens Square Shopping Centre.
